Christian Science HealingThe Bible, both the Old and New Testament, is full of examples of God’s love and care for all of us, even today. There are many examples of healings throughout its pages. The early Christians, reached out to help others realign their thinking and actions with Christ Jesus’ instructions and examples. It was a new way of thinking about life and their identity. They experienced healings from this more spiritual way of thinking and living. The Bible is full of ideas on how to think, act and heal today.
Mary Baker Eddy discovered the Science of the Christ during a three year period she was searching the Scriptures to try to understand how she had been healed of the injuries of an accident when reading one of Christ Jesus’ healing in Matthew. She wrote a book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures which contains her discovery of the Science of the Christ, and the last chapter is one hundred pages of how people were healed of many different problems by just reading this book. People’s ideas and thoughts were changed. In the spirit of Christ’s charity – as one who ‘hopeth all things, endureth all things’ and is joyful to bear consolation to the sorrowing and healing to the sick, -- she commits these pages to honest seekers for Truth. As one is an “honest seeker for Truth,” one experiences harmony and healing. To heal is defined in Merriam-Webster dictionary, “to make sound or whole, to restore to health, to patch up, to restore to original purity or integrity, restored to its original origin…”.
